To determine how much
stone to order:
- Add together the total linear distance of all
outside corners, rounding up to the nearest foot. This is
the amount of corners to order.
- Determine the square footage for each wall section
by multiplying height by width. Total all the wall
surfaces to obtain the total surface area.
- Determine the square footage of all openings such as
doors and windows in the same manner (height times width).
Add all these values together.
- Subtract the square footage for all doors and
windows determined in step 3 from the total surface area found
in step 2. This is the net surface area for flat stones.
- In order to fine tune your square footage
requirements, multiply the linear corner footage from step 1 by
0.75, then subtract that value from the net surface area to
adjust for the corners. This is the amount of stone to
order.
